To ensure we’re in the best position to help our members navigate their careers and build business for their firms, we need volunteers who are passionate about the profession and committed to excellence. There’s a lot of work to do, and I hope you’ll consider serving SMPS in a leadership capacity.

SMPS Oregon is led by 13 SMPS members who volunteer their time to lead the chapter. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the chapter. We strive to advance the professional and personal development of our chapter’s membership by growing our education and networking programs. Oregon’s board of directors also ensures the chapter remains fiscally responsible for our members today and in the future.

Plus – we have fun! Serving on the board is one of the best ways to connect with other members and learn together. It can be an enriching experience that gives you leadership and growth opportunities you may not have in your day job.

We are currently recruiting for the following open positions:

Pacific Regional Conference Representative

Position Description: The PRC Rep participates on the regional conference planning committee and represents the SMPS Oregon Chapter amongst the ten chapters that host PRC annually.

Term Limit: No term limit

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for election as a director, an individual must be a Regular or Distinguished Life member of the Society and the individual shall have served as a chapter volunteer for at least one year.

Director of Programs

Position Description: The Director of Programs is charged with planning, developing and implementing networking and learning opportunities for the chapter. The content is geared to client panels and speakers with a goal of providing education and insight on topics relevant to the A/E/C industry and current market conditions.

Term Limit: Two consecutive one-year terms

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for election as a director, an individual must be a Regular or Distinguished Life member of the Society and must have been such a member for one (1) year as of the date his or her term of office commences. The individual shall have served on the Chapter committee for one year or have comparable committee experience in another organization/association. No individual may hold more than one Directorship at any time.

Secretary

Position Description: The Secretary participates on all SMPS Oregon board meetings and is in-charge of ensuring all meeting minutes are thorough and accurate.  This position is also on the Executive Committee and will be part of high level decisions that must be made quickly.

Term Limit: Two consecutive one-year terms

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for election as the secretary, an individual must be a Regular or Distinguished Life member of the Society and the individual shall have served as a chapter volunteer for at least one year.

Nomination Requirements

Nominations may be made by individual members (self-nominations) or by petition. All nominations must include the nominee’s personal data, verification of eligibility, and a statement outlining the individual’s responses to the Nomination Form. Download the Nomination Form here.

Individual nominations will be evaluated by the Nominations Committee to ensure the candidates meet the minimum criteria and represent the best interests of our chapter and members. The Nominations and Elections Committee will evaluate all candidates and submit a recommended slate of board of directors upon which all members will vote. If no petitioned nominations are received within 10 days of notice, the slate shall be declared elected and will be introduced at the Annual Kick-Off Meeting.
