Call for Volunteers: Join a Committee!

Joining a committee is a great way to strengthen your resume, grow professionally, and connect with others in the industry! We have a number of open positions this year and are looking for volunteers to join our committees. To learn more, please contact the committee directors listed below, and visit us at the GROW Event on September 12th. 

Communications Committee

To join the Communications Committee please contact Kaitlin Virding, Mackay Sposito and Stephanie Doeing-Nicoletti, Soderstrom Architects. 

Media Relations Manager

• Develop media relationships and maintain list of local and regional media outlets and contact persons

• Regularly submit information to secure features of SMPS Oregon’s events and chapter news in local media outlets

• Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications:

• Have strong relationships with media partners such as DJC, Business Journal, etc. or desire to make them

• Previous experience in public relations a plus

Web Manager

• Solicit and create content for SMPS Oregon website blog

• Add/update event information, sponsor logos, committee pages, and blog postings

• Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications: Must be familiar with WordPress or possess desire to learn

Eventbrite Manager

• Utilize the event information form to develop Eventbrite registration pages

• Check back throughout the registration time period to manage ticket availability

• Respond to ticket questions and manage cancellations and refunds

• Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications: Must be familiar with Eventbrite or other event registration platforms, or possess desire to learn

Newsletter Editor

• Create and deliver weekly newsletter through MailChimp (solicit content from the Director as well as SMPS Oregon website, upcoming events, etc.)

• Create and deliver “SMPS Extra” newsletter as needed, to promote events between newsletters

• Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications: Must be familiar with MailChimp or similar email marketing platform, or possess desire to learn

Photo and Video Manager

• Coordinate the creation of promotional videos

• Coordinate with event photographers and videographers

• Assist with video editing

• Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications: Experience with video production preferred

Education Committee

To join the Education Committee please contact Adrienne Lindsey, Geo Engineers. 

Education Committee Member

• Bring creative and fresh ideas for education events

• Attend monthly planning meetings

• Assist with identifying potential venues, speakers and caterers for events

• Write occasional blog posts for SMPS Oregon website

• Help secure event sponsors

Special  Events Committee

To join the Special Events Committee please contact Angie Cole, Lorentz Bruun Construction.

Sponsorship Manager: Will manage and be responsible for driving sponsorship revenue and achieving target funding goals. They will manage the relationships with corporate partners and be tasked with bringing sponsorship opportunities to the market. The Sponsorship Manager will attend all Committee meetings and will provide bi-weekly sponsorship updates in the three months leading up to an event.

Graphic Design Manager: Will manage and be responsible for developing graphics for the two event. They will manage the design of the all marketing materials, such as invitation, banners, and branding for the awards gala and boards, bags and brews event. The graphics design manager will attend all committee meeting and provide different ideas on brand guidelines for each of the events.

Communications Manager: Will manage and be responsible for managing all of the communications for the special events committee, both internally with accounting and communications and externally with attendees and sponsors.  The Communications Manager will attend all Committee meetings and will provide bi-weekly updates in the three months leading up to an event.

Programs Committee

To join the Programs Committee please contact Jenn Bollenbacher, Harder Mechanical Contractors.

Event Coordinator for each of our three events (panel event, Market Mixer, & spring building tour)

• Take the lead on working with Jenn on venue selection, speaker invitations, event set-up, etc.

• Ideally three people would fill this role & each take ownership of an event

Communications Liaison

• Be the point of contact to the Communications Committee to ensure our event details are shared well in advance and they have everything they need from us to get the word out

Graphic Designer

• Lead the design efforts for any PowerPoint slides, posters, or collateral we may need for each event

Sponsor Outreach

• Take the lead on connecting with industry leaders to secure event sponsorships
