Sunny Weather Team and Networking Activities

It’s June in Oregon, and many of our counties have been receiving sunny and warm days. Since we’re enjoying the chance to get out and be more active with family, friends, and our neighborhoods, why not bring that spirit to our work?

Check out a few of the examples below to find fun inspiration for your team!

SMPS Oregon sponsor VLMK recently celebrated National Bike Month. According to Leah (our Membership Director), they did a lunch time ride - waterfront loop (5 miles) and an after-hours ride to Peninsula park (11 miles). Staff brought their own bikes or VLMK paid to rent the Nike Biketown bikes. They had participation from the various teams in the office and different levels of employees.

Similarly, Turner Construction Company recently sponsored a trash cleanup with a property manager partner. This is a great way to help the environment while connecting with clients and partners over initiatives important to both parties.

A few other ideas to take advantage of the lovely weather are to take networking and client meetings to restaurants and cafes with outdoor patios, picnic tables, or even to have coffee at surrounding parks. It’s a great way to continue supporting local businesses, and talking safely in-person.

Oregon also has a ton of outdoor activities and volunteer opportunities available to teams large and small. Although many are still adjusting to different COVID procedures, a number of organizations are still open and ready to welcome your groups.

To find something outdoorsy, consider searching through your local parks and rec centers, and other nature based organizations such as:

Or dive into the team bike rides, competitions, scavenger hunts, and other fun projects on your own!
