Member Spotlight: Nicole Haman, CPSM, LEED AP

Nicole D. Haman, CPSM, LEED AP at AKS Engineering and Forestry, LLC
Senior Marketers Roundtable Facilitator, SMPS Oregon

How did you get into a career in A/E/C marketing? And what do you do at your current firm?
I started my career in A/E/C marketing over 11 years ago. After graduating from college, I joined a local contractor as a Marketing Assistant and have been in the industry ever since. Currently, I am part of the Marketing and Business Development team at AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS). Most of my time is focused on working with our team of skilled marketing professionals and technical staff to develop quality marketing collateral including qualifications and proposals, interview preparation, and implementing AKS’ company-wide business development efforts.

How do you maximize your SMPS membership?
I maximize my SMPS membership by getting involved! In addition to obtaining my Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) certification, I’ve sat on several roundtables including the Mentorship Roundtable and the Doing it All/Balancing Act Roundtable, and I have facilitated the Senior Marketers Roundtable since 2017. I’ve worked with other members of the Oregon Chapter to draft questions for the CPSM exam and have also facilitated sessions of the CPSM Boot Camp and look forward to doing more in the future!

I would recommend all members find a roundtable and/or committee to get involved in. SMPS is a great place to find peers with whom you can build a professional support network. Working with your peers in these more intimate settings helps foster relationships and creates opportunities for members to participate and contribute in meaningful ways.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Zoologist and/or Marine Biologist

If you could be on any game show, which would you choose?
American Gladiators – the original, circa the late 80’s early 90’s.

What is life like outside of work? What other interests do you pursue?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my five-year old son and husband, playing softball, CrossFit, gardening, cheering on the Oregon State Beavers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and volunteering regularly at the Lewis River Mobile Food Bank.
